Dark Harbor Center of Gravity Calculations

The location of the 'Vertical Center of Gravity' is one of the primary factors in Sizing the Sail-plan, Sizing the Mast Column, Calculating the Dynamic Stability Calculations, and Velocity Prediction Calculation that will ultimately determine the success of the Redesigned version of Dark Harbor for aluminum construction. 

Since I cannot find the 'Vertical Center of Gravity' anywhere on the four sheets of Construction Plans, looks like I will be doing a weight study  for the original Dark Harbor design.  I could estimate it at two or three inches below the Design Waterline.  Estimating this most important calculation would not set well with me and  defeat the whole purpose of this writing.

The 'Weight Study'  to determine the 'Center's of Gravity' will be based on the information I have on hand, being the Construction and Sail-plan drawings, the Specifications, and the Computer Model file. 

No interior features will be included in the 'Weight Study', since the Plans I am working from did not include any Interior plan and profile drawings.  However, at this point I am not to concerned.  The interior of 'Dark Harbor' was probably minimal anyway! 

When the Weight Study for the aluminum version is calculated I will not include any interior structures for a fair comparison.

I expect the modern day version of 'Dark Harbor' to be heaiver with the addition of an power plant, fuel, and other comforts found in todays craft.

Remember,

We are only at the beginning of the Re-design process.
